Earthquake at the North Coast Co-op 2010
A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the North Coast Co-ops in Eureka and Arcata on January 9, 2010 at around 4:30 p.m. Fortunately no one was hurt. The Eureka Co-op lost power and had to use back up generators to keep food frozen and chilled, and had product broken on the floors everywhere. The Arcata Co-op did not lose power and had minimal damage to product. Both stores closed for clean up and to allow employees to check in with family, pets and friends.
